Welcome

My name is Iris, and I am a person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist, a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), based in central Bristol. I also offer remote sessions to clients UK-wide and beyond.

I understand how important therapy can be to get through difficult life periods, be it major life events such as loss or illness, or times of transition and difficulties with how you feel within yourself. I experienced the same in my life, and this has been one of the main driving forces behind becoming a therapist. I believe that with genuine presence and compassion, therapy can help you feel more connected to self resulting in a sense of more wholeness, helping navigate changes you need and want for your life.

My work is best described as holistic. This means I work with you to understand the full context of your life, including daily life and commitments, your mental and physical health, and life goals and aspirations, to help you live in a meaningful way, whatever that may look like for you. I work this way due to both my professional and personal lived experiences. Throughout my life, I realised the importance of sustainable change. This means that the therapy work must be able to translate to your everyday life. This way you get to see changes in your inner and external world over time that has a domino effect on your mental and physical health, wellbeing, relationships, work, and all other important life areas.

I qualified as psychotherapist at University of Strathclyde, specialising in person-centred therapy, with additional training in integrative therapy through COSCA. I worked as a college counsellor, with young adult and mature students, navigating complex transitions, exploring neurodiversity (diagnosed and undiagnosed), academic difficulties, family issues, abuse, bullying, and various issues with mental and physical health. I also counselled middle aged and older adults through employee referral programmes, who struggled with workplace issues (e.g., bullying), career changes, life transitions and major events such as divorce, family breakdown, bereavement, illness, and various difficulties with mental and physical health. Additionally, having worked in a range of roles in health and social care, including in the community, in hospitals, and in public health with people of various backgrounds and health issues, this has given me a broad insight into how different people’s lives can be, which enriches my practice.

I work with a range of difficulties and concerns, as I work with your unique story and needs to navigate your life. I do have particular specialties, including health counselling and psychotherapy, which includes neurodiversity, managing mental and physical health, illness, occupational health, and other. I also specialise in working with young people (15+years), student groups/education related counselling, and people navigating career changes and challenges (including workplace issues). On the next page you can read more about my specialty areas as well as what my therapy offers in detail. Please do get in touch if you have any questions or wish to book a free consultation call.
